Devlog 10: Polish Sprint!

This Week

We're almost at the end!

This week we started our first week of polish sprint, we'll be refining and fixing the stuff we have in our game to make it even better before the final submission.

For the past 2 weeks we were very worried about not being able to have a playable build.  Even though the creation of the build itself was successfull, only a black screen showed when trying to play the game.  Thankfully our amazing programmers got to it and after a lot of hours of research, they managed to fix the problem!

Code polish

On top of saving the day with the build, programmers  focused on fine tuning the balance between the staff members winning and the impostor losing, fixing the position of the winners on the podium and giving the impostor the option to sabotage an attraction that someone is already repairing.

Some tweaks were done to the behaviour of the NPCs and manager as well, he will only get highlighted when you can actually vote.  A timer at the end screen was also added, counting down before you can start a new game.
There is now an outline around the staff members that appears when they win the game. The final goal is to have the outline currently in the game match with the player color, so if the red player is fixing an attraction it would be highlighted red. Basics have been laid for this, although is not fully implemented yet due to a small bug.

Art polish

Our attractions are not so empty anymore! This week we started to place customers in them, let's hope nothing bad happens to the fair while they're having a good time...

Some feedback we got in the past was that our players where a bit difficult to spot on the map, so we worked on increasing the saturation of the bottom circle and made the stripes on their shirt bigger to help with clarity.

The manager of our fair had an amazing week and got a fancy new desk to sit at. During gameplay you'll find him waiting there for the players to approach and start the voting.  Be sure to do so if you think you've found who is doing the sabotage!
A new NPC also joined our fair, a small child customer!

We also modified the voting screen, now the players can see a small icon indicating their own color and know which buttons to press to vote.

Alongside reworking our textures to have a more cohesive look between the different models, some new animations were added as well. Like the staff members celebrating their well deserved win with some amazing dance moves! Also bumper cars are now moving correctly inside the attraction.

We also added two small particle effects to our player models. There are now small puffs of dust while they are walking around and a cute dust cloud when they jump, but to see those you will have to play our game!

What's next?

While the work is still not done, we've come a long way since the start of our group project and we're happy with the progress we've made so far.  Next week will be our last week of polish and we'll keep improving the game as much as we can before the finish line.

See you next week for our last devlog!
